Account Analysis
An Account Analysis (822) transaction is a financial document sent by financial institutions to their clients detailing account activity, balances, and service charges. Typically sent by banks or service providers in response to a client’s request or on a periodic basis, this transaction provides a comprehensive view of account status. The BGN (Beginning Segment) establishes the document type and purpose, while the DTM (Date/Time Reference) segments mark critical dates such as the analysis period or statement date. The ENT (Entity) loop structures the detail section to organize information by account or service category.
For example, First National Bank sends an 822 transaction to TechCorp Industries detailing their commercial checking account. The transaction contains multiple ACT (Account Identification) segments representing different accounts held by TechCorp, each listing current balances and any adjustments via the ADJ segment. Within each account, the RTE (Rate Information) loop documents current interest rates, while the SER (Service Charges) loop itemizes monthly fees for transactions, account maintenance, and other services. The BLN (Balance Information) segments under the LX loop provide detailed breakdowns of available funds, reserved amounts, and other balance categories relevant to TechCorp’s banking relationship.
