The transaction also captures equipment serial numbers, seal information, charges, and route details through its nested loop structure, enabling accurate billing and shipment tracking throughout the rail network.

The railroad’s revenue department generates a 426 transaction set to document the shipment, specifying the waybill number in the ZR segment, the five freight cars assigned in the N7 loops with their car numbers and seal identifiers in the M7 segment, the Chicago origin and Detroit destination in the F9 and D9 segments, the applicable freight rates and charges in the R2 and L1 segments, and routing information through intermediate rail junctions.
