Project Schedule Reporting

Typically sent by a project manager, contractor, or resource coordinator to a client, owner, or upstream manager, the 806 provides structured reporting on project timelines and resource utilization. The transaction begins with the BPP (Beginning Segment for Project Schedule Reporting) segment, which establishes the reporting context, followed by optional organizational details in the N1 loop (Name segment and associated contact information), schedule calendars in the CAL loop, resource specifications in the RSC loop (Resource segment with quantities, amounts, and rates), and detailed task information in the TID loop (Task Identification segment with associated metrics and milestones).

Consider a construction management firm sending an 806 to a real estate developer to report progress on a commercial building project. The BPP segment initiates the report with project identifier and reporting period. The firm includes calendar information via CAL segments showing working days and holidays, specifies labor resources in RSC segments with hourly rates and percentage allocations, and then details individual construction tasks in TID segments—for example, foundation work, framing, and electrical systems—each with associated dates, quantities completed, costs incurred, and completion percentages. Within each task section, MLS (Milestone) segments mark critical completion points such as foundation approval or occupancy permits, enabling the developer to track both the detailed work breakdown and major project gates at a glance.
