How was this list checked?

Each of the 10 platforms on this list is scored against eight criteria: one point per criterion met, half a point for partial, out of 8. The criteria are JSON in and out without raw X12, one JSON shape for every trading partner, production access without a sales call, published supply-chain EDI pricing, a free plan that carries production traffic, documentation published for coding agents, an official command-line tool, and an official MCP server for general-purpose EDI.

Partial applies only when JSON or a single shape covers a small subset of document types, and the entry names that subset. Prices published only for healthcare or non-EDI products do not count as supply-chain EDI pricing. Trials and sandboxes do not count as a free plan, and an MCP server limited to a narrow use such as eligibility checks does not count as general-purpose EDI.

Every cell in the table comes from the vendor's own pages, with a footnoted source. The checks were made in October 2026. A blank cell means the vendor's own pages did not settle the criterion, and a blank scores nothing.

Tediware publishes this list and is one of the 10 platforms on it.

Platform notes

Tediware: 8 of 8

Your application sends and receives JSON, and Tediware translates to and from X12 on every plan. Every partner shares one source shape per transaction set, and inbound mappings normalize to your canonical shape. You can sign up publicly and run production traffic on the free Developer plan. Every docs page is available as markdown, with coding agent instructions, an official CLI and an MCP server that operates your Tediware account.

Orderful: 4.5 of 8

Orderful's Mosaic API1 exchanges JSON over REST and translates to and from partner X12 and EDIFACT. Mosaic gives one JSON schema per document type for 12 document types5, and other types run through the traditional API. Orderful publishes prices2 on paid plans only, from $189/month per trading partner for Web EDI and from $399/month for Integrated. Its docs are published as markdown with llms.txt6, and that index lists no CLI or EDI-platform MCP server.

When is another platform the better choice?

If you want a provider to run EDI for you, look at managed-service providers such as SPS Commerce and TrueCommerce. This list is for teams that write the integration themselves.

If your EDI is healthcare eligibility and claims, Stedi publishes healthcare pricing43 and an eligibility MCP server46.

If your team builds on a VAN and works in X12 directly, ECGrid's developer program15 gives self-service access to its network.

If you run a TMS, Bitfreighter's JSON Open API19 is built for TMS platforms.

How do I try Tediware?

Sign up for a Tediware account. The Developer plan is free for production traffic, up to 800 transactions a month, with no credit card.

The docs describe the JSON format, mappings and tools. Point your coding agent at the agent instructions and the MCP server while it writes the integration. Review the mappings and partner setup it proposes before you send production documents.
