With Tediware, you build your EDI integration with AI. On Stedi's EDI Platform, your developers build mappings by hand with a visual builder and JSONata1.

Stedi's product, pricing and AI tooling are focused on healthcare2. Tediware is built for X12 EDI in every industry except healthcare. The companies serve different industries, but are similar in giving their users control, observability and a comprehensive API.

Stedi's 2026 keynote recap2 says its new features "expand Stedi's programmable clearinghouse into a full headless revenue cycle management (RCM) engine". The announced features2 include Agentic Discovery for insurance eligibility, Stedi Treasury for payer payments, Stedi Lockbox for paper checks, a CMS-1500 claim API and end-to-end test mode for claims. The same recap2 never mentions logistics, retail, manufacturing or supply chain.

Stedi's EDI Platform page3 offers to "Exchange X12 HIPAA EDI with any provider, payer, or EHR system". Stedi's published pricing4 covers healthcare products only. Stedi's MCP server5 covers eligibility checks and payer search. Tediware supports all X12 transaction sets and all X12 releases from 3060 onward, on every plan.

When is Tediware the better choice than Stedi?

Tediware is the better choice for EDI integrations outside healthcare. It is for developers, technical teams and hands-on business operators in industries like logistics, retail, manufacturing and food and beverage.

Your coding agent connects to the Tediware MCP server to read your partner setup, transactions and traces, and to send or resend documents while it writes your integration. The Tediware MCP server is available on every plan, including the free Developer plan. Stedi's MCP server5 offers eligibility check and payer search tools, with no MCP server for EDI Platform partnerships, transactions or files.

With Tediware, your code sends one JSON shape per transaction set, and each partner's differences live in that partner's mapping. Stedi's Guide JSON6 can differ by trading partner, so one shape for all partners needs a separate, hand-built mapping.

Tediware's mapping assistant writes each mapping in JSONata, and the mapping must pass validation against the partner's implementation before it is accepted. Stedi's Mappings module1 has you build JSONata mappings by hand in a visual builder, with no AI mapping generation.

You can run Tediware in production on the free Developer plan, up to 800 transactions a month, with no credit card. Stedi's only free plan is the Sandbox7, which is limited to test mode. Tediware's Growth plan costs $100 a month for 6,000 transactions, then $0.0150 each. Stedi's pricing page4 lists healthcare rates, with no price for supply-chain X12.

Stedi is venture-funded, with a $50 million Series C8 led by Addition with participation from Stripe, Ribbit, USV, First Round, BoxGroup and Bloomberg Beta. Tediware is independently owned, founder-controlled and answers to its customers, not investors.

When is Stedi the better choice?

Stedi is the better choice if you are a healthcare provider, payer or health-tech company building eligibility, claims or revenue cycle workflows. Stedi's EDI Platform page3 says it can translate, validate, send and receive any healthcare transaction type. Its healthcare product line3 covers X12 270/271 eligibility, X12 837 claims, X12 835 remittances, X12 276/277 claim status and X12 275 attachments, plus a payer network and enrollment.

Stedi's 2026 keynote2 added Stedi Treasury for payer payments and ERA reconciliation, Stedi Lockbox for paper checks and end-to-end test mode for claims. Stedi's MCP server5 gives your AI agents tools to perform and troubleshoot eligibility checks. Stedi's healthcare pricing4 is pay-as-you-go per transaction, with no monthly minimum.

How do I try Tediware?

You try Tediware by creating an account on the free Developer plan. The Developer plan includes 800 transactions a month, unlimited trading partners and all AI features, with no credit card required. The Tediware docs explain implementations, mappings and connections. The API reference documents the REST API your code calls. Tediware publishes coding agent instructions for your agent to read before it starts.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stedi focused on supply-chain EDI?

No. Stedi's product, pricing and AI tooling are focused on healthcare2, and its 2026 keynote describes a "full headless revenue cycle management (RCM) engine". Tediware is built for X12 EDI in every industry except healthcare.

Is Tediware an alternative to Stedi?

Yes, for X12 EDI outside healthcare, and because Tediware takes the same API-first approach as Stedi's EDI Platform3. Both give your code a REST API, and Tediware's Platform API covers submitting documents, fetching results and reading traces. Both notify your code by webhook when an inbound transaction is ready, through Tediware webhooks and Stedi's webhooks11. Both translate X12 to JSON, and Tediware's JSON format is similar to Stedi's Guide JSON6.

The differences are coverage and AI. Tediware supports all X12 transaction sets for logistics, retail, manufacturing, and food and beverage, and its mapping assistant writes each mapping and validates it against the partner's implementation. If you chose Stedi because you want your team to work in code, Tediware keeps that model. No-code order automation tools are built for teams that don't, which makes them a different kind of product.

Can my coding agent work with Stedi?

Not for supply-chain EDI. An MCP server lets a coding agent connect to a platform directly, reading your partner setup, transactions and errors and acting on them while it builds your integration. Stedi's MCP server5 offers tools for eligibility checks and payer search. Tediware's MCP server lets your coding agent read your partner setup, transactions and traces, and send or resend documents, on every plan.

Does Stedi publish pricing for supply-chain X12 EDI?

No. Stedi's pricing page4 lists per-transaction healthcare rates, such as eligibility checks and claims. Tediware's Growth plan costs $100 a month for 6,000 transactions, then $0.0150 each.

Do Stedi and Tediware both support SFTP and AS2?

Yes. Stedi offers SFTP and hosted AS212, and recommends SFTP where a partner allows it. Tediware includes unlimited SFTP connections on every plan, with AS2 as an add-on on the Developer plan.

Can I use Tediware for healthcare EDI?

Tediware is built for X12 EDI in every industry except healthcare. Tediware's service terms treat protected health information as restricted data, processed only under a signed business associate agreement.
